Watercolour Art (Watercolor Art) - My First Contact with the
masters
Watercolour (watercolor)
art first came into my life in early
1960 when I was in the secondary school evening class and was helping out at my late father's hawker
stall. While art has a broad domain, I had
peculiar interest in watercolor painting.
I had a fortune to observe some of the masters in Singapore
watercolor art scene then,
and one of my most admired artist was Lim Cheng Hoe. His style
of watercolour painting had inspired
me to practice the fine art on a continual basis. As I could not afford any formal training
then, I treasured every visit to the watercolour
art exhibitions to study the paintings by the masters, their painting
compositions, their execution of brush strokes, their choice of colour combination and
contrast.
By studying the watercolour techniques applied by the masters I managed to learn faster and
developed my own style of painting after years of practice and experimenting.
Watercolour Art - My Creation, My Presentation
My subject of watercolour art paintings come
in landscapes, seascapes,
portraits, wildlife, birds
and some with moral
meanings. Some of my
paintings can be found in local art galleries, while most of them can be seen at my art studio.
Here are some preview of my watercolour paintings created in 1960s.
